False Teaching & Wolves

Reference Theme What to Notice
Acts 20:28–30 Wolves among the flock Paul warns that false teachers can arise from “among you.” Leaders must watch themselves and the flock.
2 Peter 2:1–3 Destructive heresies Secretly introduced teachings, denial of the Master, greed, and exploitation. Notice the link between doctrine and motives.
Jude 3–4 Contending for the faith The faith was delivered “once for all.” Some twist grace into license and deny Christ by lifestyle.
Titus 1:9–11 Refuting opponents Elders must both encourage with sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it. This is part of healthy leadership.

Gospel Core & The Spirit of Antichrist

1 Corinthians 15:1–4 The gospel defined The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus “according to the Scriptures” is central and non-negotiable.
1 John 2:18–23 Antichrist & denial of the Son The spirit of antichrist denies the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father.
1 John 4:1–3 Testing the spirits Every spirit that does not confess Jesus Christ come in the flesh is not from God.
Galatians 1:6–9 Another gospel Any “gospel” that distorts grace in Christ is accursed, even if proclaimed by an angel or apostle.

Wisdom, Maturity & Discernment

Hebrews 5:11–14 Discernment by practice Mature believers have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.
James 1:5 Asking for wisdom If you lack wisdom, you can ask God, who gives generously without reproach.
Proverbs 2:1–11 Seeking wisdom Wisdom, understanding, and discretion protect you from evil paths and twisted words.
Philippians 1:9–10 Discernment in love Love should abound with knowledge and all discernment, so you approve what is excellent.

Prophetic, Dreams & Spiritual Gifts

1 Corinthians 12–14 Gifts & love Spiritual gifts should function in love and order, building up the Body, not glorifying individuals.
Acts 2:17–18 Dreams & visions In the last days, God pours out His Spirit; dreams and visions are one expression—but still tested by the Word.
1 Thessalonians 5:19–21 Testing prophecy Do not despise prophecies, but test everything; hold fast what is good.
Joel 2:28–29 Outpouring of the Spirit God’s promise includes prophetic activity—but never outside of His character and Word.
